Because you sound crazy, running around talking about the 90s and her record as a D.A. and Attorney General. That was like 30 years ago. Can you name any specific cases that still outrage you? Can you do this off the top of your head, without googling? If not, then you’re just regurgitating talking points.

Kamala Harris does have a complicated record. But being a D.A. or an Attorney General is a complicated job. So yes, you might find her arguing for the death penalty in one case, then fighting against it in another. Or you might find her promoting policies to reduce recidivism while denying early release for some prisoners. That’s called case by case nuance. That’s how justice is supposed to work.

Black Men and the Police

Speaking of justice. As a black man, you’re aware that you have a unique relationship with the police, right?. Because of stereotypes some interactions can be unnecessarily contentious. We’ve seen enough of them.

Imagine it happens again. A police officer kills another innocent black man. And as usual justice is dragging its feet. So what do you do, you hit the streets and protest. Ask yourself, which candidate will contemplate shooting you in the legs before turning the capitol police loose on you? Somehow, I don’t think that would be Kamala. I’m pretty sure that would be Trump. Is that what you’re voting for?

What about reparations? Are they a big deal to you? Do you walk around thinking, boy if only the government would break me off a reparations check I could finally get on with my life? If the answer is no, then what you hold is a principled position, a long term goal. It’s something you’d like to see happen. But it’s not essential in your day to day life.

This election is essential to your day-to-day life. One candidate (Trump) is proposing pardoning insurrectionists while denying you justice. This would be done by granting police blanket immunity when they do something illegal like violate your rights or unjustly end your life. Gov. Landry just pushed similar immunities through the state legislature.

Republicans Be Tripping

Then there’s the weirdness. J.D. Vance is a weird dude. He can’t even order donuts.  Trump has surrounded himself with Vance and other weird, patriarchal policy wonks. Both envision resurrecting a Christian nationalist police state via Project 2025, their blueprint.

The other candidate (Kamala Harris) is about an inclusive society. She envisions helping more lower income people become homeowners, and are freed from predatory student loan debt. She envisions a society where businesses don’t price gouge you during a hurricane or pandemic. It’s the same society where your wife wouldn’t have to possibly travel two states away to get an abortion if the pregnancy goes wrong.

This seems like an easy decision. But let’s go deeper.  Just like you aren’t relegated to black jobs, your vote shouldn’t also be relegated to black or domestic issues.

This whole global empire and lives we lead are maintained by one thing: money. We buy off other countries to maintain order. Traditionally, it’s called foreign aid.

In return for this aid, we get allies, embassies, and bases to store weapons. This ability to strike anybody from anywhere is at times the only thing between us and a well placed bomb or rocket.

One candidate (Trump) wants to upset that set up. As we’ve seen, he’s about busting up alliances and being stingy with aid. That is how you stop being a global empire and become a target.

The other candidate (Kamala) is about maintaining the relationships that have kept America center stage since World War II. Sometimes that means tightroping through messy situations like the one in Gaza. Sometimes that means being capable of nuance.

That is not Trump. Trump is too unstable for the world. And the world is too unstable for Trump. Black men, put the foolishness aside, you have a better chance with Kamala Harris in office.

  1. You started off this democratic shilling with a lie and went downhill from there. Her record as a DA and AG was “like 30 years ago”? If it takes two seconds to look up her record and when it occurred, why would you write that? Especially when it’s not even close to being true. Her record as a DA and AG is very recent sir/ma’am. Not very long ago at all. Also, who says reparations is a long term goal? It’s a very overdue RIGHT NOW goal. So are having very specific black american policies for black american issues. Fear mongering Trump is not a valid answer to Kamala’s outright dismissive attitude toward both. Some of us don’t give a damn what sorority or college you went to. Or which black celebrity you pay to shill even more than you are. It’s time to put up or I’ll gladly keep my vote at home.

    1. Mr. Cooper:
You raise relevant issues while creating an atmosphere of perpetual ignorance. Isn’t it bad enough that the political parties propagate ignorance without our own journalists co-signing the illness?
Those who want to vet the Democratic Candidate should be encouraged to do so. How else will Black People be able to learn the so-called electoral process?
Why are Black People scolded by other Blacks when they try to exercise their claimed rights of America?
On the contrast, the owners of WBOK, (which owns Think 504)
claiming racism for people pointing out their opinions when many of the owners participated in some forms of protest against people refusing to grant Black People rights and privileges framed in the Constitution.
What a difference the fense looks depending upon what side you happen to on.

  2. To me 30 years isn’t long enough in regards to the damage that Kamala has caused to black, brown men and their families so totally miss me with the crap!

  3. I tell you what Trump will hurt more poor people than rich and the wealthy. So, for me and mine, we good and going to always be good but if you vote for that Orange Man, you get what you get. lol No buyer’s remorse like the last time. Rounding up Mexicans and all Latinos means somebody’s got to work those fields and pick those vegetables. So, who you think that will be? WHITE PEOPLE? lol So good luck with that and staying home is not an option.
