Last week, after an intense online trolling session, Rep. Clay Higgins retired to his chamber in the U.S. House of Representatives. Once there, he asked his god if it was okay to be racist. Apparently his god said no, much to the dismay of Rep. Higgins.
So Rep. Higgins did what any man of faith would do. He deleted his racist tweet from the internet. Which racist tweet? You know, the one where he called Haitians wild, pet eating, gangsters who run around in cults practicing vudu (his spelling). He also called Haiti the nastiest country in the western hemisphere. So yeah, that tweet. Rep. Higgins deleted it after asking his god if it was okay first.
As of this writing, it’s unclear if this is the same god, Rep. Higgins found after he choked out a black man and slammed him against a car. This was back when he was an up and coming racist trying to make a name for himself in the Opelousas Police Department. He lied about the incident. And then later resigned after an investigation exposed him as a liar.
Higgins Seems Unhinged?
It’s also unclear if this is the same god Rep. Higgins found after he threatened to shoot his first wife if they ever came face to face again. Or if it’s the same god he found after refusing to pay his second wife the child support he owed her. The first wife got a restraining order. No word if the second wife ever got her money. Maybe we can ask Rep. Higgins or his god about that.
Lastly, it’s unclear, if — wait, we can go on and on. We could mention the protester he pushed around at a fundraiser. Or we could mention the 10 protesters he promised to kill. But why be redundant.
What is clear though is that Rep. Higgins has always been a thug. Thug is that self-projecting code word racists now use since they can’t call black people n*ggers in public anymore. Yeah, he’s always been one of those. For example, having babies and not taking care of them, that’s typical thug mess as we’ve been told. That’s Rep. Higgins.
After his illustrious career at the Opelousas Police Department ended, Rep. Higgins joined the St. Landry Sheriff’s Office. There he became an internet sensation for being the equivalent of MaGruff The Crime Dog on steroids. In video after video, Rep. Higgins threatened black people suspected of committing crimes like they were runaway slaves. He was eventually fired.

But now he’d have us believe that he’s a changed man. He’s the type of man who just wants to make America great again. He’s the type of man who’s found a god. And he’s the type of man who deletes tweets, but then waffles between apologizing and not apologizing for them.
Oh wait, forgive me, I forgot to mention that after deleting the racist tweet, Rep. Higgins apologized. He said he was only talking about Haitian gang members, not all Haitians, even though he called the whole country nasty. But then later he said he had nothing to be sorry for, not a thing. “It’s all true,” CNN has quoted him as saying. Gum under his boot, he said, something he’d do again if he wanted to.
As of this writing, the apologetically unapologetic Rep. Higgins still sits on congressional committees. Speaker of The House Mike Johnson says he deserves redemption. The chair of the Congressional Black Caucus says he deserves to be censured. Others say he deserves a history lesson on Louisiana and Haitian culture. What he ultimately deserves though is to be voted out of office. In these partisan times, don’t count on any of that happening.
