  8. Simone Biles Writes Her Redemption Story. Simone Biles pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics for mental health reasons, but she came to Paris with something to prove. Biles led the U.S. women to team gold and took individual golds in the all-around and vault. Even with a bad calf, she limped to a silver on the floor exercise. After Tokyo, this had to feel incredibly rewarding.
  9. COVID Apparently Isn’t Contagious in Paris. Noah Lyles ran the 200m final with COVID and a 102-degree fever, then gave interviews afterward. When asked, the Paris Olympic Committee said they didn’t have a COVID policy and left it to the athletes’ discretion. Well, that’s one way to host a super spreader event.
  10. U.S. Men’s Basketball Team Delivers Gold. The U.S. men’s basketball team faced criticism for not dominating like previous Dream Teams. But they came back from a 17-point deficit in the semifinals against Serbia and dominated the final to bring home gold. With more international players in the NBA, Olympic basketball games are getting closer.
